This course is delivered to you online and includes tests, videos, assignments and training delivery on a topic of your choice.


This comprehensive course helps trainers to see ways in which they could become better, more effective trainers using online technology.  During the course you’ll have the opportunity to practise planning and delivering a short training session on a subject of your choice, which you’ll refine during the programme based on constructive feedback. You’ll leave our course with an action plan for delivering effective training courses.

Module 1 – Introduction to Online Training

  • List reasons to use live web-based online training
  • List tools for online interactivity
  • Facilitate and participate in breakout sessions
  • Measure online training
  • List essential activities to run virtual sessions
  • Describe effective techniques before, during and after sessions
  • Demonstrate the use of the tools used in virtual sessions

Module 2 – Adult Learning and Learning Styles

  • List considerations for effective adult learning
  • Describe barriers to learning and how to overcome them
  • List the 4 learning styles and identify a learning method that suits each

Module 3 – Effective Communication

  • Suggest ways to improve communication between participant and trainer
  • Describe 3 effective communication elements that are important to you and why
  • Select the reference indicator that least describes you and provide 3 effective phrases or methods to suit this indicator

Module 4 – Classroom Management, Training Activities and Questioning Types and Techniques

  • Describe barriers to learning and how to overcome them
  • List ways to manage training sessions more effectively to retain attention and interest
  • Describe why questioning is important

Module 5 – Structuring a Training Course

  • Describe a Training Needs Analysis
  • List different methods of analysing training needs
  • Describe the purpose of Aims and Objectives, and list examples of the 3 parts to objectives
  • List 5 methods to building knowledge
  • List 3 types of memory aids
  • List 2 methods of identifying training audiences
  • List training delivery methods and describe advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Describe the contents and purpose of a Lesson Plan
  • Provide 3 examples of what could go wrong and describe how to plan for each
  • List considerations for planning training

Module 6 – Training Delivery

  • Prepare a training course for online delivery
  • Write aim and objectives for a given topic
  • Develop a lesson plan
  • Deliver a 15 minute training session to the group
  • Identify areas of improvement
